I bought this game in 2005 for my Game Boy Advance SP. I got it early because I imported it from the US. I think this was a good game because it’s like Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire but with many updated features: - Battle Frontier, Pokemon Animations, a new place called Trainer Hill, Different Gym Pokemon, and two evil teams to fight. I think this game is a must buy if you don’t have Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire, but I still think it's worth buying it if you don’t have it (like I did).
Visuals:
The Graphics on this game are good because the Pokemon are animated (a feature that was introduced Pokemon Crystal but missed out in Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire for some reason.
Visuals Rating: 9 / 10
Audio:
The tunes in Pokemon Emerald were a bit of a let down because I personally think they were too similar to the jazzy tunes of Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire. I think they were too similar to the previous Game’s tunes, and they could have included some new ones or at least changed them a bit.
Audio Rating: 4 / 10
Game Play:
I think the game play is greatly improved compared to Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire because there are many new features to make the game more enjoyable. For example: - a new character called Scott, the introduction of the Battle Frontier, and the upgraded Battle Tower has been redesigned and is been renamed Trainer Hill.
Game Play Rating: 8 / 10
Lifespan:
This game is longer than the Gem trio (Ruby, Sapphire), but if you have played Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire you can finish the game pretty quickly. It took me only a week to get to the Battle Frontier but I think the average person will take around a month or two.
Lifespan Rating: 7 / 10
Originality:
This game isn’t very original because there are two games in the Gem trio before this one came out, and the idea of Pokemon Animations shouldn’t have been left out in Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire since it was invented in Pokemon Crystal (the game that came out the year before Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire).
Originality Rating: 6 / 10
Overall Rating:
I think this Game is great, and I would recommend it to all my friends who like Pokemon. I hope this Review was helpful and I hope you enjoy playing Pokemon Emerald.
